TECHO's Evolution within Royal Ahrend
From 1st January 2021, TECHO proudly bears the name Ahrend, confirming its full integration into the Royal Ahrend group. This integration journey began in 2008 when Ahrend acquired TECHO. The TECHO brand is preserved alongside Ahrend, Gispen and Presikhaaf, forming a strong product portfolio.
The history of TECHO
The brand originates from the Czech Republic. TECHO represents clever and modular furniture that provides comfort and optimally supports employees in carrying out their jobs. There is a design to suit the needs of the client in any situation. The universal design language of the furniture means it can be matched to any environment: from an office to a home workspace, or from a lobby to a retail shop.
1991 - Founding of TECHO
Jiří Kejval and Martin Kulík established TECHO in Prague. IKEA became one of the first major clients. Initially supplying table lamps, TECHO soon expanded to a successful range of office accessories sold globally.
1993 - A historic move
TECHO began producing office furniture in collaboration with the German firm Gesika. The following year, production moved to a new building at the former "Dřevozpracující podnik Praha" site. This move continued the long-standing tradition of furniture production at the Prague Hostivař location, dating back to the 1950s.
2008 - TECHO Joins Royal Ahrend
After years of successful cooperation, Royal Ahrend became the sole owner of TECHO, which has thrived in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Hungary and the United Kingdom, exporting to 90 countries. This acquisition strengthens Ahrend's position as a leader in the European market for commercial interiors.
2021 – One Royal Ahrend
From January 1, 2021, TECHO operates under the Ahrend brand after 30 years. TECHO products remain part of Ahrend's extensive portfolio. An innovative furniture factory is being built in Prague Hostivař, making it one of the most modern product locations in Central and Eastern Europe.
New beginnings
Our sales operations remain unchanged, with the same dedicated team serving customers. As part of Ahrend, customers benefit from one of Europe's leading office furniture suppliers. Significant investment in the Prague facility has made it a production hub for the Ahrend group, utilising Industry 4.0 technology for greater flexibility and higher quality.
